EU Insurance Distribution Directive

Dear Sales Partners,

With the implementation of the new EU Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD), a new regulation for insurance brokerage came into force on 23 February 2018. Therefore, we would like to inform you about the changes in use and your obligations for you as a travel agency.

  • With new directive introduces an initial information requirement for insurance intermediaries without a licence.
  • Subject of the initial information and the form are your travel agency address and the information of the complaints office (Versicherungsombudsmann e.V. in Berlin), whom policyholder can contact in case of disputes with insurance intermediaries

A form with the mandatory fields, which you must hand over to your customers before booking, is available for download on the right.

We will provide a technical solution through your booking system as soon as possible.

Due to the EU Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD), it is only possible to get premiums of more than € 200 through A-ROSA on request. For the conclusion of the insurance the insurance is accordingly handed over to trained and licensed technical personnel of the Hanse Merkur.

Initial information

We arrange travel insurance in the status of a permission-free annex intermediary according to § 34d Abs. 8 Nr. 1 of the German Trade Regulations (Gewerbeordnung (GewO)).
